Description
  • Paper describes investigation of polyethylene powder modification using plasma reactor exploiting the dielectric barrier discharge burning in air at atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature. For the test modification the polyethylene powder was used. Effectivity of the modification process was successfully tested by ESCA scans that proved formation of new functional groups at the modified powder surface. Modification effect was also evaluated by means of dynamic capillarity rising measurements. Powder capillarity tests proved significant powder capillarity changes. Modification effect reduction was small (max. reduction about 20% during 1100 days after the modification date), hence modification effect is also very time stable.
