  • Hydrometeor attenuation is the main limiting factor for performance and reliability of radio links in millimeter wave band. The analysis of point-to-multipoint radio systems is quite different to classical point-to-point links since horizontally non-uniform distribution of rain rates during showers must be taken into account. Several models of rain cells are available in literature. In this paper space-time simulations of point-to-multipoint radio systems performance during rain events are presented based on actual radar data. A database of radar data for numerous types of rain events was established to enable testing under different conditions. Various aspects of the system performance like site diversity can be evaluated by the simulation tool.
