Description
  • In the paper, the effect of particle concentration on critical impeller speed necessary for mixing of fine suspension is presented. A single down pumping TX 335 impeller with vessel to impeller diameter ratio D/d = 3 was used for mixing of a chalk suspension. Measurements were carried out in cylindrical baffled vessel with diameter 300 mm. The mean volumetric diameter of particles was 4.6 μm and their mean volumetric concentration was changed in the range from 2.5 % to 40 %. A relation for critical speed of TX 335 impeller is proposed and impeller speed and power consumption necessary for mixing of suspension using this impeller is compared with the speed and power of standard pitch blade turbine.
