  • Using the theory of turbulence, especially using turbulence spectrum analysis, the relations e* = e/(u´4/n) ~ const., vK/u´ ~ const. and L/hK ~ const. were derived. Following it the constant dimensionless local turbulent energy dissipation rate e* = e/((Nd)4/n) = const. and length scale ratio L/d indirectly proportional to Reynolds number L/d ~ Re-1 were derived for agitated vessel for highly enough Reynolds number. The relations obtained by turbulence spectrum analysis were used for estimation of local turbulent energy dissipation rates rarely experimentally measured in large tanks by Ståhl Wernersson and Trägårdh (1998, 1999) covering range Re = 87 600 - 910 200. These experiments, although rare, support our theoretical analysis and makes this problem challenging.
