  • The effect of clay concentration onto flocculation kinetics of clay slurry in baffled tank agitated by a Rushton turbine at given mixing intensity 40 W/m3 and for different flocculent dosage. The flocculation experiments were conducted in a fully baffled cylindrical vessel of diameter D = 150 mm agitated by Rushton turbine (RT). The dependences of residual turbidity on a flocculation time were measured for different flocculent dosage and for three values of clay slurry concentrations at given mixing intensity e = 40 W/m3. Water - clay particle suspension was used as a model system. Solid fraction of clay was 0.48, 0.58 and 0.92 g/l respectively. The model wastewater was flocculated by the organic polymer flocculent Sokoflok 56A (0.1 % wt. aqueous solution; flocculent weight per flocculent solution volume mF/VF = 1 mg/ml). Flocks were separated by 5-minute sedimentation in the tank.
