Description
  • A short overview of which biomaterials (metals only) are being used today was conducted. In this respect, the materials that can be processed by powder metallurgical route has been surveyed, since this is a primary prerequisite for the material to be used in the MPP. Moreover, the powder materials commercial availability was addressed. An investigation into the optimal powder characteristics and process parameters when the powder material is used in the MPP (e.g. sintering temperature, sintering pressure, gas atmosphere, size distribution, powder morphology etc.) has been discussed. The required properties of the end product (e.g. biocompatibility, strength, density, ductility) has been defined.
