Description
  • The energy loss is represented basically by the increase in entropy of the flow and demonstrated in general by loss of total pressure and by non-uniformity of the velocity and pressure fields. An important role in the total energy loss in the channels is played by the out-flowing vortex tubes generated in the flow by the action of the traverse pressure gradient arising as a result of centrifugal forces accompanying curved flow in the stationary channels or due to Coriolis forces in the case of rotating channels. A systematic experimental and theoretical investigation of the phenomena concerning the 3-D complex subsonic low speed flows within the channels, casing and curved tubes of jet engines an turbo machines were performed with special interest in the relationship between the value of the total losses and the geometry parameters of the curved channels.
