  • Thin carbon and carbone nitride films exhibit specific optical and machanical properties which make them promissing materials for integrated optics. The fabrication of carbon and carbonn nitride layers for planar optical waveguides is focused on two areas. The first one is the growth of carbone or carbone nitride layers with reproducible refractive index and thickness for passive waveguides, and teh second one is the growth of these layers and their doping with erbium for active waveguides.
