Description
| - Mechanical behavior of layered systems, in which high-strength UHPFRC with steel fibers is used to provide load bearing function and ductile SHCC with PVA fibers should serve as a durable corrosion-resistant coating, is examined by FEM. A variant, where the coating consists of quasi-brittle UHPC lacking any fiber reinforcement is also tested as a reference. Simulated experiments include three point bending of a plate and a thermal shock test of a facade panel. The results indicate advantages of using SHCC over UHPC, namely as applying the former results in higher displacement capacity of the plates, smaller crack width and smaller interfacial stresses. Performance of SHCC coating under thermal shock also meets requirements. The study thus provides an impetus for further testing and development of the technology of UHPFRC-SHCC layered elements.
