  • Many research works demonstrate that application of brick powder as additive improves properties of concrete due to its pozzolanic activity and ability to refine the concrete pore system. Very important role in performance of concrete in severe environment is played by its pore system and character of surface. The paper presents an experimental program focused on the monitoring of water transport in surface layer of fair-face concrete aimed at monitoring of the concrete permeability since it is a property uniquely affecting durability of concrete. These measurements are complemented by characterization of pore structure and by other conventional tests. The findings will serve to further optimization of the concrete microstructure being created and thus help to ensure concrete’s better aesthetic and functional characteristics.
