  • There are many historical structures in the Czech Republic made of timber. It is necessary to assess and observe their condition as a part of maintenance. Standardized testing that defines material properties reliably is unfortunately destructive. Non-destructive testing is more suitable for using in-situ and does not damage the structure elements, but it is not covered by standards till now. Devices working with ultrasonic waves are often used while investigation of historical timber structures to determine material properties.
