Description	The paper deals with the problem of adaptive reuse of industrial architecture in connection with present conditions of large post-industrial cities. Industrial architecture (industrial buildings as well as industrial areas) demands today a new experimental level of use, especially in connection with the adaptive reuse for new functions: cultural, educational, entertaining, residential, recreational etc. Because of these changes it is relevant to do scientific research into this field. The purpose of this research is to analyse the worldwide experience of the adaptive reuse of industrial architecture in France, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, England, Spain, Portugal, USA etc., including examples in the Czech Republic. The research is concerned with the modern adaptive reuse of industrial objects in context with their new social functions. The methodology is based on the analysis of objects chosen at random and on a system of selected criteria developed on three levels.
