Description
  • The paper is based on long term observations and analyses of causes of slope instabilities in cohesive soils. It explains probable causes of repetitive local stability failures in the subsoil with quite high shear resistance and artesian ground water. In order to verify the hypotheses about mechanisms of stability loss a parametric study was carried out with use of geodetic digital terrain model and results of pore water pressure monitoring. Monitoring of subsoil and surface deformations with fiber optics, the Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis (BOTDA) method was proposed. The monitoring system enables also parallel deformation measurements by geodetic GPS on the surface and 3D deformation measurement in the instrumented boreholes. The first part of instrumentation was carried out in December 2013. The principal of measurement method and means of measurement cable fixing are briefly described in the paper. The gathered results are summarized and the means of chosen monitoring is evaluated in the conclusions.
