Description
  • Glass can be effectively combined with another material and optimal interaction of both materials can be found. Paper deals with the different possibilities of composite I-section beams, consisting of steel flanges and glass web bonded together by polymer adhesive. During the last few years, there has been a plenty of full-scale experiments performed at CTU Prague with many different systems of the glass web composition. If the glass beam is longer, the web has to be divided into several parts and the behaviour of that structure is completely different in comparison with the beam, where the web is composed by the single piece of glass.
