Description
  • Environmental assessment of buildings becomes more and more important in building sector. R&D in this field is very agile and assessment tools also progressively penetrate into building practice. The motivation of reducing negative impact on environment is not anymore important just for researchers, but also for investors and clients of development companies. It is generally known that the biggest deal of energetic savings in built environment is possible through reducing energy demands in existing building stock. New buildings represent just a minor portion (the annual growth rate of new buildings added to the housing stock is 1,5%) of the total number of housing stock (Ad-hoc Industrial Advisory Group 2009). As there already exist various multicriterion tools for environmental assessment of new buildings, methodics for refurbishments are still in development in many countries. It has to consider various aspects and values of each particular building and seems to be much more delicate task to set up a general methodics for refurbishments than for newly built buildings. At the CTU in Prague, Department of Building Structures a methodics is being developed for assessment of refurbishments that belongs to the group of SBToolCZ assessment method. First version of cri-teria setup was finished in December 2011.
