| - This monograph is a free continuation to the first part, Fundaments of Mechanics of Composite Materials, issued by the Czech Technical University in Prague in 2012. The results are used in this work wherever the optimizations are based on composites that include homogenization. The optimal prestressed of circular and segmental cylindrical laminated composite structures with the aim to minimize stress and maximize natural frequencies is first solved. A substantial part of the work is devoted to the shape optimization of fibers, which leads to minimization of stress and displacement fields in a composite structure, and the minimum value of the coefficient of heat conduction. Another objective is the optimal approximation of material properties for a given overall properties (possible use in biomechanics). For optimal design of the fiber shape two numerical methods, finite and boundary element are used and the results are compared.
