Description
  • This paper focuses on strength development of concrete in early age and the main factors influencing strength development as the temperature, watercement ratio and admixtures. The development of compression strength of concrete is described among others in EN 1992-3-1. The task of this paper is to evaluate approximate time, when an RC element might withstand its own weight and would not collapse. For solution of this task the method that deals with strut-and-tie models (STM) is used. The STM are widely used for design of Dregions and represent very helpful tool for all structural engineers dealing with complicated reinforced concrete structures with static or geometrical discontinuity. This paper shows the principles and procedures of STM creation, evaluation of particular elements and nodal zones. The evaluation of stresses is done in computation software CAST that offers a valuable and simple way for evaluation of these elements.
