  • This paper presents an experimental investigation of panel zone in steel end-plate connection subjected to interaction of bending moment and axial force at elevated temperature. Thermal restraint of the beam causes high axial forces during the fire which significantly affects the overall behavior of the joint. A component method which has been established as an analytical technique for an ambient-temperature prediction of the joint behavior can be applied to analyze the mechanical response of the joint in case of fire. Incomplete description of some components at elevated temperature still limits the wider usage of this method. One of the most recent studied components in steel beam-to-column joint exposed to elevated temperature is the column web in shear. A set of three tests was performed at the Czech Technical University in Prague to confirm the analytical prediction model of this component.
