Description
  • Geodynamical problems are often solved by discrete element methods, which can describe possible damage in rock. The assessment of bumps occurrence in deep mines, which can occur during longwall mining, for example, belongs to the most serious tasks for mining engineers since its consequences are commonly fatal. Describing the problem in early stage of bumps (small displacements are considered) this is a stability assessment, as ones the wall loses its stability, the next movement of rock particles is not decisive. If gas explosion occurs in the rock, for example, discrete element method - hexagonal particles - can be applied in combination with boundary elements involving dynamical effects. Eigenparameters simulate the explosion.
