Description
  • Metakaolin is capable of a partial substitution of Portland cement in the concrete industry primarily because of its pozzolanic properties. In addition, it can be considered as an environment-friendly binder as it is produced by thermal decomposition of kaolin with much lower CO2 emission than in the case of cement clinker. In this paper the effect of metakaolin on properties of high performance mortars is studied. The amount of metakaolin as a partial Portland cement replacement, the type of cement and the amount of superplasticizer are the main factors studied in the experiments.
