Description
• Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP) has been a traditional tool for investigation of morphology of porous building materials. Due to limited range of %22MIP visible pores%22 and some principal physical aspects of the method, it is necessary to use and to interpret the MIP data with respect to these facts. One of ways how to overcome the insufficient range of MIP towards large pores is the combination of MIP with helium pycnometry and nitrogen adsorption technique. Suitability of MIP measurement for various types of building materials is discussed. Moreover, this contribution attempts to open a discussion whether MIP measurements are of interest for people dealing with building materials production, utilization and evaluation on one side and for academicians dealing with materials modeling and their directed design on the other side.
