| - This work aims at proposing a methodological approach that provides the technological backup for the design and implementation of watertight and volume stable normal and self-compacting concretes intended for foundation structures such as diaphragm walls and foundation slabs. These structures are often of large volumes (e.g. considerable thickness of the slab) that generate prob-lems linked to the evolution of hydration heat and, subsequently, propagation of cracks. The main goal thus becomes to reduce these effects by the mix proportioning of concrete mix-tures, site casting and by taking other specific precautions. In this contribution the influence of casting procedures in layers together with the application of H-Krystal catalyst on water tightness and volume stability of concrete structures of considerable thickness is investigated. Proposed pro-cedures are verified by both the numerical and physical experiments.
