  • Tensile strength and Young's modulus of two different types of carbon fiber reinforced cement composites are determined as function of thermal load up to 10000C. The effect of the applied cement on the tensile strength is found to be more important than the effect of quality of carbon fibers. The aluminous cement based carbon fiber reinforced cement composite exhibits after subjecting to the temperature of 10000C for two hours the tensile strength about two times higher than the Portland cement based composite and only two times lower compared to the room temperature reference value. The values of Young's modulus are for the aluminous cement based carbon fiber reinforced cement composite lower than for the Portland cement based composite for all temperature exposures but contrary to the Portland cement based composite they increase for subjecting to temperatures higher than 6000C
