Description
  • Semi-destructive techniques are nondestructive with respect to the structural member but destructive with respect to the extracted specimen. These techniques can be used to extract elasticity and strength parameters that are difficult to obtain with nondestructive evaluation. This paper discusses two semi-destructive methods: tensile micro-specimen method and cylindrical core method. Both methods are local in their nature, that is, they yield information about material properties such as density, strength, and modulus of elasticity, but not member properties.
