  • A method CWV assimilating radar reflectivity into a NWP Local Model COSMO (LM; version 3.18) with a horizontal resolution of 2.8 km is presented and applied to five severe convective events. Taking into account differences between the model and radar-derived precipitation, the CWV modifies vertical profiles of water vapour mixing ratio in each model time step by the nudging approach. The CWV is evaluated and compared with the latent heat nudging method (LHN), which is included into the LM code. In most cases both the methods are capable of forecasting basic features of the storm development 3 hours ahead and significantly improve the precipitation forecast obtained without assimilation. The comparison of the methods shown that slightly better results were obtained by the CWV but the results are sensitive to the applied criterion of verification. The results proved that the CWV is a good alternative to the LHN.

  • Metoda asimilace CWV radarové odrazivosti do NWP modelu LM COSMO (verze 3.18) s horizontálním rozlišením 2.8 km je aplikována na předpověď pěti konvektivních událostí. Metoda asimilace CWV je založena na modifikaci modelového vertikálního profilu směšovacího poměru vodní páry, která se provádí v každém časovém integračním kroku metodou nudging. Metoda CWV je vyhodnocena a porovnána s metodou využívající latentního tepla (LHN), která je součástí modelu LM. Ve většině případů jsou metody LHN a CWV schopné předpovídat základní rysy bouří 3 hodiny dopředu a porovnání metod ukazuje, že CWV metoda dává poněkud lepší výsledky, avšak výsledky porovnání metod závisí na zvoleném kritériu. Základním výsledkem je skutečnost, že metoda CWV je dobrá alternativa k LHN. (cs)
