  • Výsledky různých autorů o dlouhodobých trendech v foF2, jež je ekvivalentní maximu elektronové koncentrace v ionosféře, i jejich interpretace nedávají konsistentní obraz. Proto šest týmů provedlo společnou analýzu kvalitních dat ze stanice Juliusruh (54.6oN, 13.4oE), poledne (průměr za 10-14 hod. UT) pro dva sluneční cykly od minima k minimu (1976-1996) s použitím různých metod určování trendů. Různé metody poskytují výsledky, které se do jisté míry liší. Dalším zdrojem rozdílů je použití různých způsobů odstranění či alespoň potlačení vlivů sluneční a geomagnetické aktivity. Nicméně nakonec většina týmů dostala zcela srovnatelné výsledky. Interpretace pozorovaných trendů není jednoznačná – spoluautoři považují za dominantní příčinu pozorovaných trendů buď dlouhodobé změny geomagnetické aktivity, nebo antropogenní vlivy. Bylo odsouhlaseno několik výstupů z této analýzy: Všechny trendy jsou záporné nebo nevýznamné. (cs)

Therefore a joint analysis of high-quality data of station Juliusruh (54.6oN, 13.4oE) at noon (average from 10-14 UT) for the period of two solar cycles from minimum to minimum (1976-1996) was performed by six teams, which used different approaches to trend determination. Various methods provide results, which differ to some extent. Another source of differences is application of various ways of removal (or at least large suppression) of the effect of solar (and geomagnetic) activity. Nevertheless finally most teams obtained quite comparable results. Interpretation of the observed trends is not unique – co-authors consider either the long-term change in geomagnetic activity, or anthropogenic effects to be predominantly responsible for trends.
