Description	Single crystals of Lu2SiO5 (LSO) and Y2SiO5 (YSO) with 0.04 mol.% Ce and their powders were studied by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). From the fitting of the Ce3+ EPR powder spectra, the proper principal values of g tensors were determined for the main Ce(I). For the Ce(II) center, two of g tensor principal values tend to zero. It was found that the population of Ce(II) in LSO and YSO crystals is only 3 and 6%, respectively.
