| - The Proceedings of SPIE Volume 7138 'Photonics, Devices, and Systems IV' include 89 papers from contributions presented during the sixth conference 'Photonics Prague 2008' held from 27th to 29th August 2008 in the Hotel Artemis Olympic in Prague, Czech Republic. The articles review the recent development of photonics particularly in the Eastern European countries emphasizing the photonic systems and devices. The conference included several sessions which topics were focused on lasers and photodetectors, lasers for medicine, biosensors, devices, photonic crystals, waveguides, nonlinear photonic materials, multimedia, nanophotonics, light diodes and education in photonics. - Sborník SPIE svazek 7138 nazvaný Photonics, Devices, and Systems IV (Fotonika, přístroje a systémy IV) obsahuje 89 článků z příspěvků prezentovaných na 6. konferenci 'Photonics Prague 2008' konané 27. - 29. srpna 2008 v hotelu Artemis Olympic v Praze. Jsou přehledem rozvoje fotoniky zvláště ve východoevropských zemích s důrazem na fotonické systémy a zařízení. Konference byla rozdělena do sekcí, které obsahovaly tato témata: lasery a fotodetektory, lasery pro lékařství, biosensory, přístroje, fotonické krystaly, vlnovody, nelineární fotonické materiály, multimédia, nanofotonika, světelné diody a vyučování fotonice. Aplikace fotoniky lze najít například v průmyslu, telekomunikacích, energetice, lékařství i ochraně životního prostředí. (cs)
