| Description
| - New series of chlorine substituted rod-like liquid crystalline compounds containing one two or three lactate units in the chiral chain have been synthesized. Sequences of phases and phase transition temperatures have been determined by differential scanning calorimetry, polarizing optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction studies. Depending on the molecule structure, the materials possess a rich variety of mesophases, namely the paraelectric SmA, ferroelectric SmC* and antiferroelectric SmCA* phases. Moreover, some compounds with one and two lactate groups shows the frustrated TGBA and SmQ phases, respectively. Existence of the SmQ phase ordered in two directions has been demonstrated by X-ray diffraction on non-oriented sample. Effect of the non-chiral chain length and number of the chiral lactate groups on the mesomorphic properties, spontaneous polarization, spontaneous tilt angle and complex permittivity have been studied and discussed. - Byla připravena série nových kapalně-krystalických látek, které obsahují dvě až tři laktátové skupiny v chirální části molekuly. Byly popsány fáze, které se v těchto materiálech vyskytují. Pomocí kalorimetrických, dielektrických a elektrooptických měření byly studovány a popsány fyzikální vlastnosti. (cs)
