  • We report a study of the effect of hydrostatic pressure on the magnetocaloric effect in a La0.69Ca0.31MnO3 single crystal. The peak position of .delta.Sm significantly moves to higher temperatures, from 213.5 K under ambient pressure up to 236.5 K under a pressure of 1.1 GPa, while the maximum value of .delta.Sm remains nearly the same. These exceptional results demonstrate that the magnetocaloric effect in magnetic materials with strong spin-lattice coupling can be effectively tuned by pressure

  • V práci jsou uvedeny výsledky studia vlivu hydrostatického tlaku na magnetokalorický jev v monokrystalech La0.69Ca0.31MnO3 single crystal.Teplota maximální hodnoty .delta.Sm výrazně roste, z 213.5 K za normálních podmínek na 236.5 K za tlaku 1.1 GPa, zatímco maximální hodnota .delta.Sm zůstává prakticky beze změny. Tyto zvláštní výsledky prokazují, že magnetokalorický jev v materiálech se silnou spin-mřížkovou vazbou je možno efektivně ladit pomocí vysokých tlaků (cs)
