| - Leptin se podílí na regulaci tělesné váhy, příjmu potravy, metabolismu i aktivaci buněk imunitního systému a zánětu. Ve studii jsme sledovali hladiny leptinu, adrenokortikotropního hormonu (ACTH), kortikosteronu, interleukinu 1beta, a oxidu dusíku (NO) u potkaních samců Long Evans s adjuvantní artritidou a hledali možné vztahy mezi leptinem a jeho modulátory v rané a pozdní fázi chronického zánětu. Zjistili jsme, že kortikosteron nestimuloval produkci leptinu během AA. Snížená koncentrace cirkulujícího leptinu je zřejmě důsledkem permanentní aktivace NO, IL-1beta a snížené tělesné váhy a leptin zřejmě nehraje roli v rozvoji chronické artritidy. (cs)

In this study we analyzed levels of leptin, ACTH, corticosterone, IL-1beta, and NO production in male Long Evans rats with adjuvant arthritis to ascertain possible relationship of leptin with its modulators during the early and late phases of chronic inflammation. The results showed that corticosterone does not stimulate leptin production during adjuvant arthritis. The suppression of leptin may be a consequence of permanent activation of NO, IL-1beta, and of lower weight gain. Circulating leptin does not seem to play a key role in the progression of chronic arthritis.
