Description
  • Immunoreceptor signaling leads to Ca2+ release from intracellular stores, followed by a mysterious store-operated Ca2+ (SOC) entrance. Recent studies identified stromal interaction molecules (STIMs) as playing an essential role in SOC influx. Remarkably, Ca2+ store depletion induced a rapid redistribution of the endoplasmic reticulum STIM1 into puncta that accumulated near the plasma membrane. The combined data suggest that STIM1 functions as a Ca2+ sensor in the signaling pathways connecting Ca2+ store depletion to SOC entrance.

  • Imunoreceptorová signalizace vede k uvolnění Ca2+ z cytoplasmatických zásobáren a následně k vstupu Ca2+ do buňky mechanismem SOCE (store-operated Ca2+ entrance). Nedávné studie identifikovaly STIM1 (stromal interaction molecule 1) jako významného hráče při SOCE. Za významný lze považovat nález, že uvolnění Ca2+ ze zásobáren vede k rychlé redistribuci STIM1 na endoplasmatickém retikulu do shluků akumulovaných v blízkosti plasmatické membrány. Kombinované výsledky naznačují, že STIM1 funguje jako Ca2+ sensor v signalizačních cestách propojujících snížení koncentrace Ca2+ a SOCE. (cs)
