Description	Pretreatment of rat basophilic leukemia cells with methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (MBCD) resulted in a dose- and time-dependent decrease in cellular cholesterol,increase in detergent solubilization of Thy-1 and Lyn, and a transient increase in tyrosine phosphorylation of several proteins. MBCD-pretreatment suppressed the activation through Thy-1 more effectively that FceRI-mediated activation. The combined data indicate that cholesterol depletion has more complex consequences than previously thought.
