Description
  • Here we show that in primary cultured rat cortical astrocytes DCPIB, the most specific inhibitor of volume-regulated anion channels, promotes the activation of a K+ conductance mediated by open rectifier two-pore-domain K+ (K2P) channels. Our results indicate that the neuroprotective effect of DCPIB could be due, at least in part, to activation of TREK channels. They also suggest that DCPIB could be used as template to build new pharmacological tools able to increase background K+ conductance in astroglia and neuronal cells.
