Description
  • The article examines whether some elements of décor of the Karlstein Castle are inspired by theological metaphors that were common part of the culture of the king Charles IV's court. The connection between the staircase with frescos depicting life of St. Wenceslas and St. Ludmila and a metaphor of stairway to Heaven (scala coeli) is obvious.
