Description	Ve státech střední a východní Evropy došlo v průběhu 90. let 20. století k výrazných změnám v reprodukčním chování mladých lidí, kteří začali (mimo jiné také) odkládat rodičovství do pozdějšího věku. V kapitole jsou shrnuty základní kontury aktuální vědecké debaty o poklesu plodnosti ve státech střední a východní Evropy a je zde argumentováno, při použití dat z výzkumu ISSP 1994 a 2002, že k vysvětlení poklesu plodnosti v tomto regionu může přispět i teorie, zaměřující se na vztah mezi mírou genderové rovnosti a mírou plodnosti. (cs) There has been a marked trend towards the postponement of childbearing and increased childlessness in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) since the 1990s. In this chapter, current scientific debates and theories of fertility decline in CEE are briefly reviewed, with a particular focus on the case of the Czech Republic. The potential contribution of a gender equity focused approach for explaining current demographic trends in CEE is then discussed, drawing on evidence from the 1994 and 2002 International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) surveys. There has been a marked trend towards the postponement of childbearing and increased childlessness in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) since the 1990s.
