Description	We investigated the effect of multiple variables on the amplification success rate of microsatellite DNA extracted from faeces of wild Eurasian otters. The success rate was affected by (1) type of sample; with higher success rates in anal jelly samples than faeces; and (2) temperature; with a negative effect of increased temperature at time of collection. To increase the effectiveness of microsatellite genotyping of otter faeces, we recommend collecting samples in cold months and early in the morning, preferably in a frozen state; and the collection of anal jelly samples, or the jelly part from faeces, whenever possible. (en) Byl zkoumán vliv různých faktorů na úspěšnost amplifikace mikrosatelitové DNA izolované z trusu volně žijících jedinců vydry říční. Úspěšnost byla ovlivněna (1) typem vzorku; s vyšší úspěšností u výlučků análních žláz v porovnání s trusem; a (2) teplotou; s negativním vlivem zvyšující se teploty v čase sběru. Pro zvýšení efektivnosti mikrosatelitové genotypizace vydřího trusu je doporučován sběr vzorků v chladných měsících a brzy ráno, nejlépe ve zmraženém stavu; a sběr výlučků análních žláz, nebo mukózní části trusu, kdykoliv je to možné.
