| - Problém mocenských elit, jejich vzniku, proměn a projevů v hmotné kultuře náleží ke stěžejním tématům studia raně středověké společnosti střední Evropy. Sborník celkem 22 příspěvků odborníků z České republiky, Polska a Slovenska je proto věnován několika okruhům otázek, spjatých s nejpřednějšími složkami raně středověkých societ. Vedle přínosných referátů historických, vyzdvihujících zapojení moravských elit do politických zápasů 10. století a relací s pozdějším vývojem jsou tu analyzovány především projevy sociálního rozvrstvení společnosti 8. – 10. století ve střední Evropě v archeologických nálezech, zvl. na dobových pohřebištích, další studie hodnotí jednotlivé kategorie exkluzivních nálezů, především zbroje. Nechybí ale ani souhrnné referáty, pokoušející se na základě archeologických zjištění i písemných pramenů o komplexnější pohled na západoslovanské elity raného středověku. (cs)
- The matter of power elites, their formation, changes and manifestations in material culture belongs among cardinal themes within the studies of early medieval society of Central Europe. That's why the collection of altogether 22 contributions by specialists from Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia deals with several groups of matters related to the most important components of early medieval societies. In addition to valuable essays of historical nature, which emphasize the engagement of Moravian elites in political struggle of the tenth century and its relation to later development, the manifestation of social stratification of the society in the 8th to 10th century in Central Europe is analysed above all, as reflected various archaeological findings, esp. on the period burying grounds. Further studies assess individual categories of exclusive findings, arms in the first place. - Das Problem der Machteliten, ihrer Entstehung, Wandlungen und Ausdrücke in der materiellen Kultur gehört zu den Hauptthemen des Studiums der frühmittelalterlichen Gesellschaft Mitteleuropas. Die Sammelschrift mit insgesamt 22 Artikeln von Fachleuten aus der Tschechischen Republik, Polen und der Slowakei ist daher jenen Themenkreisen gewidmet, die mit vornehmen Komponenten frühmittelalterlicher Gesellschaften verknüpft sind. Neben aufschlußreichen historischen Referaten, die die Teilnahme mährischer Eliten an politischen Kämpfen des 10. Jahrhunderts thematisieren und deren Zusammenhang mit späterer Entwicklung darstellen, werden darin vor allem Ausdrücke der sozialen Schichtung der Gesellschaft im 8.-10. Jahrhunderts in Mitteleuropa erörtert, die sich in archäologischen Funden, besonders auf damaligen Friedhöfen widerspiegeln.
