| - To test hypotheses about the universality traits, college students in 50 cultures identified an adult or college-aged man or woman they knew well and rated the 11,985 targets using the 3rd-person version of the Revised NEO Personality Inventory. Factor analyses within cultures shhowed that the normative American self-report structure was clearly replicated in most cultures and was recognizable in all. Sex differences replicated earlier self-report results, with the most pronounced differences in Western Cultures. Cross-sectional age differences for 3 factors followed the pattern identified in self-reports, with moderate rates of change during college age and slower changes after age 40. With a few esception, these data support the hypothesis that features of personality traits are common to all human groups.

- Pro ověření hypotézy o univerzální platnosti osobnostních rysů provedli studenti vysokých škol pocházející z 50 kultur posouzení dospělého nebo studenta, ženy nebo muže, které dobře znali. Celkem bylo na základě položek NEO osobnostního inventáře (NEO-PI-R) posouzeno 11985 cílových osob. Faktorová analýza replikovala americkou normativní strukturu odvozenou ze sebeposouzení ve většině kultur a je rozeznatelná ve všech sledovaných kulturách. Stejně jako v předchozích studiích založených na sebeposouzení, jsou rodové odlišnosti výraznější v západních kulturách. U tří faktorů byly zaznamenány změny osobnosti v závislosti na věku již dříve identifikované v sebeposouzení. Projevily se mírné změny při posouzení vysokoškoláků (do 21 let) a pomalejší změny byly zaznamenány u respondentů starších 40 let. Až na několik výjimek výsledky podporují hypotézu, že osobnostní rysy jsou společné všem skupinám lidí. (cs)
