  • V kompozitních materiálech s kovovou matricí, tvořených oxidovými částicemi v hliníkových slitinách včetně přídavného Mg, se na rozhraní mezi částicemi a matricí vytvářejí spinely MgAl2O4. V této studii byla k ověření morfologie částic .alpha.-Al2O3 a krystalů spinelu MgAl2O4 narostlých na částicích oxidu hliníku ve slitinovém kompozitu Al2O3/Al-1,0hmot% Mg2Si použita metoda rastrovací nízkoenergiové elektronové mikroskopie (SLEEM). Morfologie částic .alpha.-Al2O3 před vyrobením kompozitu odpovídala fasetovanému soudkovitému tvaru ohraničenému dvěma šestiúhelníkovými plochami {0001} a 6 lichoběžníkovými plochami {1101}. Spinely se vytvářely na fasetách Al2O3 v podobě malých částic o tvaru osmistěnu tvořeného 8 rovnoosými trojúhelníky. Vzájemná orientace mezi spinely a částicemi oxidu hliníku, stanovená v naší nedávné studii pomocí TEM, byla v plném rozsahu potvrzena. (cs)
  • In metal matrix composite materials consisting of oxide particles and Al alloys, including Mg as a solute atom, MgAl2O4 spinels are formed at the interface between the particles and the matrix. In the present study, the scanning low energy electron microscopy (SLEEM) method has been applied to confirm morphologies of .alpha.-Al2O3 particles and MgAl2O4 spinel crystals grown on the alumina particles in the Al2O3/Al-1.0mass% Mg2Si alloy composite material. The morphology of .alpha.-Al2O3 particles before fabrication of the composite material was like a facetted barrel with 2 hexagonal {0001} and 6 trapezoidal {1101} planes. Spinels were formed on facets of Al2O3 as small particles, and their shape was an octahedron consisting of 8 equiaxial triangles. Mutual orientation between spinels and alumina particles, established in our recent TEM study, was fully confirmed.
