Description
  • A numerical analysis of the crack tip stress field in the wedge splitting test (WST) specimens creates the main scope of the paper. The finite element calculations of fracture parameters for WST on cube and cylinder shaped bodies are presented. The singular stress field is characterized by two-parameter linear elastic fracture mechanics. The results for WST geometries are compared with results for compact tension (CT) specimens from ASTM standard for classical and round geometry.
