Description
  • The problem of a crack approaching a bi-material interface is considered in this paper. Attention is focused on an interface between two materials with identical elastic properties but different plastic properties. A two-parameter constraint based fracture mechanics method is applied to compare three parameters characterizing the behavior cracks: crack tip opening displacement (CTOD), J-integral, and strain energy density (SED). The corresponding calculations are performed using the finite element method (ANSYS system). The results are compared with experiment.
