Description
(cs)
  • Using human colon epithelial cells in vitro, derived either from normal human fetal colon tissue (FHC) or from adenocarcinoma (HT-29) the response to (i) TNF-α, anti-Fas antibody and TRAIL and (ii) polyunsaturated fatty acids of n-6 (arachidonic acid, AA) or n-3 series (docosahexaenoic acid, DHA), short chain fatty acid - sodium butyrate (NaBt) and their mutual interactions have been investigated and compared. Generally, even if both cell lines showed some similar characteristics (morphology, extensive proliferation, not full differentiation), they differ in their ability to respond to endogenous inductors of apoptosis like TRAIL as well as to exogenous dietary factors like PUFAs or NaBt producing from fiber.
