Description
  • The author analyses the changing image of hero and heroism of the Austrian (Austro-Hungarian) officers during the „long“ 19th century. As a source are used Austrian propaganda printed materials, so called „Heldenbüchern“ and the lists of the members of the Military Order of Maria Theresia. The author concludes, that the old ideal of the officer-cavalier was during the centure slowly changing. New type of the officer – military professional – started to be most common type of the officer. The machine gun began to be the weapon of heroes.

  • Autor analyzuje proměny obrazu hrdiny a hrdinství rakouských (rakousko-uherských) důstojníků v průběhu dlouhého 19. století. Jako pramen jsou použity rakouské Heldenbuchy a seznamy udělování Vojenského řádu Marie Terezie. Starý ideál důstojníka-kavalíra byl během století pozvolně nahrazován novým typem vojenského profesionála. (cs)
