| - Great Salt Plains jsou příkladem hypervariabilního prostředí, kde nejdůležitějšími faktory jsou teplota, ozářenost (UV+VIS) a salinita. Většinu izolovaných kmenů tvoří zelené řasy, sinice a rozsivky. Zelené řasy jsou odolnější vůči vysychání než sinice. Koloniální - palmelloidní - formy jsou obecně lépe adaptovány na UV-B záření. Hypersalinní kmen Pikochlorum oklahomensis má širší rozsah tolerance salinity a přežívá ve vyšších koncentracích soli než mořské kmeny organismů podobných Nannochloris. (cs)
- The Great Salt Plains are example of hypervariable environment where the most important factors are temperature, radiation (UV+VIS) and salinity. Majority of isolated strains belong to Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta and Balcillariophyta. The green algae are more resistant to dessication than cyanobycteria. Colonial - palmelloid - forms are generally better adapted to UV-B radiation. The hypersaline strain Picochlorum oklahomensis have broader salinity tolerance range and can survive at higher salt concentrations than the marine strains of Nannochloris-like microorganisms.
