Description
  • The genus Schizothrix was not yet cultured and studied by methods of molecular sequencing and electron microscopy. The authors used two monospecific populations to study their phylogenetic position and ultrastructural patterns. It was proved that Schizothrix belongs to the phylogenetic cluster of pseudanabaenoid cyanobacteria. Electron microscopy is in agreement with this statement and supported diacritical generic characters. From the methodological point of view, the possibility of electron microscopy of old formalin-preserved samples was confirmed.

  • Rod Schizothrix je obtížně kultivovatelný a nebyl proto dosud studován metodami molekulárního sekvenování a není známa jeho ultrastruktura. Autoři použili dvě monospecifické populace z rozdílných biotopů ke studiu jejich fylogenetické pozice a ultrastruktury buněk. Bylo potvrzeno, že rod Schizothix patří do vývojové línie pseuanabenoidních sinic. Ultrastruktura buněk potvrdila toto zařazení. Byly vysvětleny a potvrzeny některé diakritické znaky tohoto rodu. Práce přinesla i nové poznatky z metodologického hlediska: úspěšně byl použit ke studiu ultrastruktury materiál dlouhodbě fixovaný formalínem. (cs)
