Description
  • Chromaphyosemion killifishes are a karyotypically highly diverse group of small, sexually dimorphic fishes living in rainforest rivulets in tropical West and Central Africa. In the present study,we used various chromosome banding and staining techniques to analyse the karyotypes of 13 populations representing seven described speciesand two undescribed forms.Diploid chromosome numbers(2n) and the number of chromosome arms(NF) ranged from 2n = 24 to 2n = 40 in and from NF = 40 - 54.A tentative XX/XY sex chromosome system was revealed in sevral species.Mapping cytogenetic data for all described Chromaphyosemion species onto a recently published mitochondrial DNA phylogeny revealed a complex pattern of chromosomal evolution.Together with the results of preliminary crossing and matechoice experiments, the cytogenetic and molecular phylogenetic data suggest that chromosomal rearrangements are probably not the most important and certainly not the only factor driving speciation.

  • Halančíci rodu Chromaphyosemion jsou karyotypově vysoce variabilní, pohlavně dimorfbí skupinou ryb žijící v západním Africe. Ve studii byly použity různé cytogenetické postupy pro analýzu jedinců 13 populací (7druhů a 2 neposané druhy). Diploidní počet chromozómů se pohyboval od 2n = 24 po 2n = 40 a NF od 40 po 54. U několika druhů byl objeven XX/XY system pohlavních chromozómů. Mapování cytogenetických údajů do recentně publikovaných molekulárně genetických fylogenetických stromů objevilo velmi složitý model diferenciace jejich karyotypů a chromozómových znaků. Tyto údaje ukazují,chromozómové přestavby nejsou nejdůležitější a jistě nikoliv jedinou silou související s jejich rychlou speciací. (cs)
