Description	Qualitative and quantitative analyses of two types of unidirectional carbon-carbon composites together with fractographic investigation and bending strength measurements were performed. The reliability of the image analysis was judged. The effect of thermal treatment at 2200.mult.C on microstructure and mechanical properties was pursued. The positive influence of using the high modulus fibres and of the heat treatment on bending strength and toughness of the investigated materials was confirmed.
