Description
(cs)
  • Differential constitutive equations represent a powerful tool for a prediction of the basic rheological properties of polymer melts. With the aim to understand more thoroughly the behaviour and possible differences of the differential constitutive equations, we decided to concentrate on three continuum mechanics models inspired by some molecular modeling considerations i.e. the XPP model, PTT-XPP model, and mLeonov model. In more detail, the attention was paid to their predictive/fitting capabilities in the particular types of the steady flow situations typically occurring during polymer processing. Two highly branched film blowing grades of LDPE materials were used for such purpose. The experiments were carried out at the temperature of 200oC. For both materials, the linear viscoleastic properties (storage G´ and loss G%22 moduli), shear viscosity and uniaxial extensional viscosity were measured.
