Description
  • Po skončení svrchnordovického zalednění se na mnoha místech severní Gondwany uložily černé, organickou hmotou bohaté, graptolitové břidlice které jsou v této oblasti významným zdrojem ropných uhlovodíků. Armstrong a kol. (2005) publikovali studii o černých břidlicích tohoto období ze severního Jordánska a vypracovali biostratigrafické, sekvenčně statigrafické a sedimentační modely, které se významně liší od námi vypracovaných modelů (Lüning a kol. 2000). Dva z nás (S.L., D.K.L.) měli v poslední době příležitost studovat v Jordánsku tytéž černé břidlice, které zkoumali Armstrong a kol. (2005). Studovali jsme rovněž jádro z mělkého vrtu BG-14 a dva povrchové profily v jižní Jordánské poušti. Výsledky našeho studia jsou zveřejněny v práci Lünninga a kol. (2005), ale zde polemizujeme s modely Armstronga a kol. (2005). (cs)
  • Following the Latest Ordovician glaciation, black, graptolitic organic-rich shales were deposited in many places across northern Gondwana that form important hydrocarbon source rocks in the region. Armstrong et al. (2005) presented a study of black shales of this episode from southern Jordan and propose biostratigraphic, sequence stratigraphic and black shale depositional models which differ markedly from ours (Lüning et al. 2000). Two of us (S.L., D.K.L.) have recently had the oportunity to study the same black shales in Jordan that Armstrong et al. (2005) investigated. We also studied the shallow borehole core BG-14 and two outcrop sections in the southern Jordanian Desert. The results of our study can be found in Lüning et al. (2005). We comment here on the models proposed by Armstrong et al. (2005).
